Festival Fragrances - Our Shop

Festival Fragrances: inspired by the cleansing herbal colognes Victorian travellers used for a refreshing rub down when water was scarce.

4160Tuesdays’ long-lasting festival scents are just the thing you need to keep you feeling fresh (or at least smelling fresh), as you dance the day and night way. Spray them on your clothes and body to smell fabulous all weekend. They're refillable, and bottled in recycled PET so you're allowed to take them with you into festivals.

4160Tuesdays’ collection of three Eaux de Toilettes for travelling:

  • RRP - Rose Rhubarb Peppermint

  • BAL - Blackcurrant Apple Lavender

  • MCK - Mandora Cedar Kumquat

Our Festival Fragrances are a modern water-saving take on a 200-year-old tradition: bathing with cologne. Inspired by Napoleon's legendary two-litre-a-day Eau de Cologne habit, we first made a special edition fragrance for Arthur McBain - our part-time bottler, actor, and filmmaker - to wear on set while filming Napoleon with Joaquin Phoenix.

To make it, we updated a 1920s-style blend by replacing the animal ingredients of the time with modern cruelty-free synthetics. This is made with oakmoss, labdanum, coumarin, musks, Ambrox Super, bergamot and Hedione

Here’s the plot twist: although it was our original festival fragrance creation, Arthur’s Napoleon-inspired fragrance turned out to work far better as a higher-strength Eau de Toilette, so that’s exactly what it became. Le Bain de McBain is now a well-loved 4160Tuesdays fragrance.

But we weren’t ready to give up on festival fragrances. So, drawing inspiration from British summer gardens, Sarah created RRP - Rose Rhubarb Peppermint, and BAL - Blackcurrant Apple Lavender for wearing at UK summer festivals.

The third, MCK - Mandora Cedar Kumquat, has more of a Mediterranean feel, with mandora from Cyprus, two Moroccan and Mexican cedar woods and Kumquat citrus essential oil. It brings us sunshine on days which lack the actual thing.

We recommend 100ml for one person per festival, if you're sharing a tent, get the 200ml bottle. We also have one litre tour bus size for £150 so you can top up your spray bottles. Let us know if you need one and we'll fill it for you.

The stunning typography on the bottles is by our friend Sarah Hyndman at TypeTasting, based on 19th-century poster fonts, via 1970s festivals.
