Need we actually explain the meaning of the word Scenthusiasm?
It’s a word, an idea, a feeling created by Sarah McCartney, perfumer and owner of 4160Tuesdays, for those who want more than just to enjoy the perfume made by others. It’s for those who want to be part of the world of perfumery themselves.
When Sarah first decided to make perfume, her goal was simple: create scents that didn’t exist. She needed them to match the smells she had made up in her head for a book she had written. She assumed they, or something close to them, would already be out there, but they weren’t. This revelation led her to realise there was a lack of exciting, unique fragrances in the world. So, she decided to learn how to make them herself.
Since then, Sarah has been busy making fragrances inspired by ideas, memories, people, and journeys.
When you approach perfumery (or anything, for that matter) in a unique and creative way, people want to know more. And they did. Sarah started getting questions about indie perfumery from people excited by what she was doing. Explaining that perfume-making is a creative skill not just about formulas, maths, and science, led her to a big realisation: she loved teaching others how to make their own creative, unique fragrances almost as much as she loved creating them.
As interest grew and more classes and workshops were introduced, Sarah had the idea for Scenthusiasm.

Scenthusiasm Scent School
Scenthusiasm Scent School is the perfect introduction to perfumery, an online course you can take at home.
You’ll get all the information you need to get started: a materials list, explainer films on using your equipment, and an in-depth look at 12 popular scent styles.
Along the way, Sarah shares stories behind the fragrances to spark your imagination, plus step-by-step formulas that you can adjust to make them your own. By the end, you’ll have a collection of one-of-a-kind perfumes you’ve made yourself.
Scenthusiasm Community
The Scenthusiasm Community is a friendly space on Patreon for perfumery enthusiasts.
For a small monthly fee, you’ll join a global community of people who are fascinated by fragrance.
